Who We Are
Calvary Chapel Rochester is an independent body of believers in Jesus Christ. We are affiliated with Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa, California and part of the Calvary Chapel movement.

Calvary Chapel Rochester started as an outreach of Calvary Chapel Saint Paul. What began as a mid week bible study meeting in the Rec room of a local apartment complex in 1999 grew into a church, and we were affiliated as a Calvary Chapel in 2003. As we grew and changes occurred we met in various different locations. We currently meet in the church building we were able to purchase.

Our worship service is centered around worshipping Jesus and the study of God's word. We study chapter-by-chapter through books of the Bible. We believe "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work" 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (New King James Version). We are presently working our way through the Old Testmant book by book and have already worked our way through the entire New Testament and have begun our second time through it. We typically alternate a study in the Old Testament at one of our weekly services and a study in the New Testament at our other weekly service.

Our hearts are like soil. They can be hard like the soil of a garden that has not been tilled. At Calvary Chapel Rochester our services begin with a time of worship as we focus our hearts and our minds on the person of Jesus Christ. Worshipping the Lord prepares our hearts much like a garden that has been freshly tilled, and prepared to receive the seed. The "seed" in this case is the word of God. (see Matthew 13:18-23). Prayer is an important aspect of our services also. We ask God to take the word that was freshly planted in our hearts and by His Spirit produce fruit in our lives.
